PowerHy-100 Project
100kW PEM Technology Stationary Fuel Cell (FC)
The PowerHy-100 equipment is mainly composed of a 100kW PEM proton exchange membrane technology fuel cell that uses hydrogen as fuel. This fuel cell (FC) is integrated into a 12-foot-long cabinet enclosure in which a plant balance was previously carried out to condition the gas flows into and out of the stack.
The PowerHy-100 equipment has a DC/DC converter to obtain regulation of different voltages according to its final use and mode of operation.
It has a monitoring matrix to analyze efficiencies and battery degradation in relation to its use.
It also has a hydrogen detection and evacuation system in case of a leak, which has a series of leak detection sensors attached to ventilation and gas evacuation mechanisms in closed atmospheres. This security system was installed after carrying out an ATEX analysis of all the elements of the installation, all in accordance with current regulations.
Inside the cabinet enclosure, in addition to the fuel cell stack, the DC/DC converter and the security system, there are all the auxiliary systems that allow the correct functioning of the fuel cell (cooling circuits, air filters , pumps, decompression valves, deionizer, noise filters…)
The PowerHy-100 equipment generates up to 100kW using hydrogen as fuel and emitting only water vapor and heat.
It is a very viable stationary solution in a multitude of applications as a source of renewable energy in buildings to power lights, appliances, air conditioning systems and other devices; telecommunications towers; charge batteries; charge electric vehicles…
In Inael it will be used as a recharging point for electric vehicles using hydrogen.
